The Doomsday Machine. Another Star Trek-themed piece, this one portraying a giant machine, miles long, that uses beams of antiprotons to tear planets apart, consuming the rubble for fuel. The thing starts chasing the Enterprise, and Kirk comes up with a plan to explode another damaged ship inside the planet eater. But, being Kirk, he has to go and personally pilot the damaged ship right up to the thing's gigantic gaping maw. A technical glitch leaves virtually no time to spare, and Kirk is safely beamed aboard the Enterprise just as the other ship explodes inside the planet killer, leaving it dead in space, its threat ended.
This gloriously colorful rendition of the mouth of the device uses vibrant, swirling strands of color instead of the original orange fire to create a sense of whimsy and fun. I really like how it turned out, and I hope you do too.
