Solaris. A Topographica tribute to one of Stanislaw Lem's most brilliant visions, a novel from 1961 about a sentient sea completely covering a distant planet, and the hapless resident scientists who attempt to make sense of it.
In this piece I'm depicting the tendency of the sentient sea to change its shape on the surface to reflect the thoughts and memories of the scientists, understandably unnerving them as the sea acts kind of like a projector of the scientists' deepest fears and darkest secrets.
It's a pretty good read, one of Lem's best, and the 1972 movie was a great adaptation, hewing closely to the original storyline. Check them both out if you have the time.
This poster has a partly glossy, partly matte finish and it'll add a touch of sophistication to any room.
